Women's Health

A healthy lymphatic system is vital to a woman's overall breast health. Proper functioning of the lymphatic system allows the body to drain stagnant fluids, remove toxins, viruses, bacteria and filter out foreign substances. A part of the lymphatic system's role is is to drain lymph from the breast tissue.  Over  85% of lymphatic fluid from the breast enters the axillary (armpit) lymph nodes.

Breast tissue is surrounded with a network of lymphatic vessels and lymph nodes. Unlike other areas of the body, breast tissue lacks strong overlying muscles which can naturally assist other areas of the body with lymphatic drainage. As such, without the help of skeletal muscle movement in this area,  fluid has a tendency to accumulate in the breasts. As fluid and toxins become trapped within breast tissue, the lymphatic system has a difficult time draining the breast area*.

The following symptoms are typically associated with lymphatic congestion in the breasts:

  • Swollen, tender or painful breasts

  • Swelling of the axillary lymph nodes (located in armpit)

  • Increased breast size

  • Fluid filled cysts / Fibrocystic breasts

  • Non-malignant lumps

  • Edema or Lymphedema

  • Cancer

How can L.E.T. help?

When applied to breast tissue, Lymphatic Enhancement Technology (L.E.T) can help facilitate the movement of lymph fluid. L.E.T is ideal for maintaining healthy breasts, reducing pain, swelling and other breast problems. Client's who have previously had breast cancer with lymph nodes removed are typically at an increased risk for edema and would greatly benefit from regular L.E.T appointments.

A sluggish or overwhelmed lymphatic system is also the typical cause of PMS-associated symptoms of breast swelling or tenderness, bloating, water retention, and/or hormonal acne breakouts, especially around the mouth and chin. Menopausal hot flashes can also be the result of an over- toxic load in the body at one time. Lymphatic Enhancement Therapy can help rid the body of these toxins naturally through the Lymphatic system.

*Please inform your Lymphatic Therapist if you have breast implants for best treatment plan.
